Podcast FAQ
What is a podcast?
Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio programs or
video programs over the Internet. A podcast can be played back on mobile devices or
personal computers. The term podcast, like "radio", can mean both the content and the
method of delivery.
The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. Podcasters’ web sites may
also offer direct download or streaming of their files; a podcast however is distinguished
by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading an RSS feed.
Do I need an iPod to hear a podcast?
You don’t have to own an iPod or other mobile music player to enjoy podcasts, you can listen
to them right from your computer.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
One of the great things about podcasts is that you can subscribe to them and have new
episodes delivered automatically to you as they are released. Software that has support for
subscribing to podcasts is commonly called a "podcatcher".
