MindLeaders History
It all started with a company named DPEC
In 1981, Carol Clark founded a company called DPEC. DPEC was a pioneer in computer-based training,
using computers to teach mostly mainframe programming skills. In 1996, DPEC broke new ground by being
the first major elearning developer to offer courses over the Internet. This allowed students to access
training from a variety of computer and locations, not just through a single desktop.
DPEC changed its name to MindLeaders in 2000, to signify that our course catalog had expanded beyond
IT technical and programming topics. We were also offering a complete suite of software, business and
career skills, utilizing Flash, audio and video. We presented dynamic, engaging content on many different
training topics while maintaining a consistent, easy-to-use interface across all the
courses.
In 2004, MindLeaders again pioneered a first in the elearning industry, this time introducing Learning
Advisors. The advisors work with students individually to match them with the courses
and other learning resources that most directly help their organizations' business goals and their
career objectives. MindLeaders also began offering Instant Mentors: "real-live" subject matter experts
to answer students' questions anytime they're taking a course.
MindLeaders growth continued in 2007 when it merged with
ThirdForce, an elearning company in Ireland and the United Kingdom. MindLeaders remains
headquartered in Dublin, Ohio. The combination of MindLeaders and ThirdForce created a global organization
with a deep catalog of courses, including many specialized sectors such as food safety and literacy
and numeracy skills for life. Today, we have over 1,000 clients in more than 30 countries
in the commercial, government, and education sectors.
